When Jimny’s great grandfather the LJ10 was first built way back in 1970, the world immediately fell in love with its resilience, fun, affordability, and grin-inducing capability in offroad environments. And Jimny still makes off-road driving enjoyment a reality for more trailblazers today.
Jimny is built to blast – and last – through all your offroad adventures.
...Read moreThe Jimny is like no other 4WD car on the market. It comes in three variants; Jimny Lite, Jimny and Jimny XL. They are all equipped with Suzuki's ALLGRIP PRO system, meaning it’s comfortable on any terrain. High and low range gearing and a brake LSD allow it to climb up anywhere. Couple that with the torque from the almighty 1.5L engine, it'll make Everest seem like it's a big hill. Although it’s a car for a Viking who says it must be as sparse as one of their boats? Relish the spacious seating and comfy seats throughout. It might be one of the smallest four wheel drives out there, but its practical design allows for the rear seats to fold so you can bring the kitchen sink with you everywhere you go.
The Jimny Lite is not lite on adventure with its hardcore steel wheels, black accented handles and manual transmission. It comes equipped with a CD player that allows you to blast your old ‘So Fresh’ CDs without any internet connection. For those that are unsure of what CDs are, they are the old circular shiny things.
The Jimny on the other hand is equipped with a 7” display that incorporates Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ bringing all the familiarities you've come to know and love at the touch of a button. It also comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel which makes cleaning a breeze when wiping away the drool of other four wheel drive owners as they jump in and realise what they’ve been missing out on.
Then we have the Jimny XL. Building on the strong Jimny nameplate and heritage, the Jimny 5 Door solidifies Suzuki’s presence as a true 4x4 off road performer, with a longer wheelbase and 2 extra doors.
Four wheel drive cars in Australia are in high demand with many to choose from. But, if you’re after an iconic 4WD car, you’ve come to the right website. Check out the Jimny, the iconic 4x4.
For those who want all the offroad capability of a Jimny, but don’t need modern driving frills. That means the classic feel of a manual transmission, and no touchscreen. Its off-road capability, however, is unchanged. You will still find Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO system, high and low range gearing, hardcore steel wheels, and a brake LSD for climbing up anything
The original flavour Jimny 4WD car features Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system that gives you excellent grip and traction on the most difficult terrain, a 1.5L engine and 7” touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoÔ. Ready to play, ready to head off road, ready to rock!
The Jimny XL is the 4-door, longer wheelbase Jimny that solidifies Jimny’s presence as a true 4x4 off road performer for every driver. Jimny XL has two extra doors and more storage space to fit in more fun. Making Jimny adventures a little more practical for those who often carry passengers or gear, without compromising on any of the things that make Jimny a 4x4 hero on any terrain.

ALLGRIP SELECT
Four driving modes for optimal traction in a wide range of driving conditions, including auto, sport, snow and lock. Sensors react to loss of traction or acceleration, providing optimal power, torque or braking to the wheels depending on your driving situation. ALLGRIP SELECT is available on Suzuki S-CROSS and Vitara SUVs.
ALLGRIP PRO
Offers advanced off-road ability for difficult terrain, like that you’ll encounter in your Jimny. The part-time 4WD system switches between 2WD and 4WD as required through a transfer case between the front and rear driveshafts. 4WD modes can be changed through the separate gear shifter. ALLGRIP PRO works in conjunction with Jimny’s other 4WD technology including Brake LSD Traction Control and full-width rigid front and rear axles to ensure superior grip in tough terrain.
You can tell Jimny is built tough, crafted with generous body angles and high ground clearance for navigating tricky terrain. The front corners in view help you manoeuvre without a scrape, and the round headlamps with washers maintain visibility in mucky conditions. A rigid ladder frame provides a solid foundation for off-road performance, with Hill Descent Control and Hill Hold Control to keep Jimny grounded on steep slopes, and ESC and Traction Control for stability in slippery situations. Jimny’s part-time 4WD allows you to switch between 2WD and 4WD to suit diverse and challenging driving conditions.

Suzuki Jimny 4x4 is nimble and light, built on a ladder platform to preserve rigidity and designed with a small, light footprint that makes traversing tough terrain easier. Agile and iconic, you’ll enjoy skipping past the old diesel beasts on popular tracks. In Jimny XL, the 211L boot leaves room for all the essentials, even with all seats in use.
Having power to all four vehicle wheels makes a 4x4 or 4WD car. Many normal cars are 4x2 or 2WD, which means there is only power going to two of the wheels (either front or rear). While this is fine for many normal driving applications, a 4x4 is more agile, stable and able to maintain grip on challenging surfaces, for example wet, slippery, icy, muddy and rocky surfaces.
Well, technically you can float to America on a blow-up pool, but realistically, it’s not going to be a great experience. Same with taking a 2WD car offroad.
A 4x4 or 4WD car that is made for true off-road driving will perform a lot better on off-road terrain like sand, mud, gravel, rocks and grass. The Suzuki Jimny is made with a lightweight rigid ladder frame which substantially improves off-road performance and durability.
Like a nimble mountain goat. With power going to all four wheels, if one loses traction in mud or loose rock, you have the other 3 wheels to pick up the slack and keep the vehicle moving. That’s the fun of 4x4 driving!
AWD is a full-time system that automatically distributes power to the wheels based on the vehicle’s traction, while 4WD or 4x4 is usually a part-time system that the driver chooses to engage or disengage. Generally speaking, in an AWD car, the engine can send different levels of power to each wheel, while a 4WD car sends power to each wheel equally.
The most obvious feature of a 4x4 car is four-wheel drive (4WD), which distributes the engine’s power to all four wheels, rather than just the front or rear wheels as in a 2WD car. This means a 4x4 car (or 4WD) has better traction on slippery or rough terrain, and improved stability and handling in adverse conditions.
Other common features of a 4x4 car are High/low gear ratios which the driver can switch between to suit their driving situation. High gears are used for normal driving on roads, while low gear ratios are used for slow, controlled off-road driving in challenging terrain, delivering extra torque and power to the wheels. Some 4x4 cars can be switched to 2WD mode when needed.
A 4x4 car may also have a locking differential which forces the wheels on each axle to spin at the same speed, even if one loses traction.
Other common features of a 4WD car include Hill Descent Control, which automatically applies the brakes to control your descent on steep gradients, and Hill Hold Control, which prevents the vehicle rolling backwards on steep slopes.
4x4 or 4WD modes are great for off-road driving, or in slippery conditions where traction might be compromised, for example snow, ice or water on the road. 4WD might also be useful when you need extra grip and power such as towing a trailer in mud.
In regard to the Jimny’s ALLGRIP Pro system, 4H and 4L should only be activated on unsealed roads. Activating 4x4 on sealed roads could lead to mechanical failure.
Most 4WD cars are designed for both off-road and normal road use. Many models – including Suzuki Jimny 4x4 – enable you to switch between 4WD and 2WD driving, to avoid damaging the drivetrain by driving in 4WD at high speeds.
Because 4WD delivers more power to all four wheels, you can expect to see increased fuel demands when driving in 4x4 modes. Switching to 2WD mode for normal road driving in your 4x4 car can help to minimise this.
